"One thing I liked about how Mr. Katzen taught music was that he wasn't as worried about the class getting from start to finish of a piece, but how to get from start to finish.'Were we playing the correct articulations?' and 'Were we playing the correct dynamics?' were two of the most common self assessments he utilized. He told his students that his students can be good at anything, but they need to devote time to whatever it is they're doing."
